Buds and weed in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay - my impression

Hello dear rasta audience🤝Want to tell my story about adventures with weed in Ciudad del Este, with some stories of local inhabitant.

You are probably aware that marijuana laws are different in different places. This article should shed light on cannabis regulations in Ciudad del Este, what do local people and cops think about weed, hash availability, pricing, my own experience etc.

I have just finished my trip to Ciudad del Este, stayed there for 10 days, now got back home, writing this post while memory is fresh and with a solid joint in my left hand. As a regular weed smoker I could not imagine my stay in Ciudad del Este without having some weed in my pocket. Below I will outline information I found out while looking for some good smelly green buds in Ciudad del Este.

Local attitude towards weed and cannabis in Ciudad del Este

Although only medical cannabis is allowed in Ciudad del Este, the locals are absolutely ok with the smokers. Local dealers have big cash from the students and tourists, so they are their weed target audiences in Ciudad del Este. You shouldn't allow yourself to smoke anywhere, for example in bars, but nobody is surprised if you get caught smoking weed in a secluded corner of the street.

One more interesting fact from my new friend Alex - even some cops in Ciudad del Este prefer smoking weed over drinking strong. So as I understood Ciudad del Este is a good place for smokers of marijuana because of the light atmosphere, but all the same the best rule is not to be caught with weed in Ciudad del Este 😉.

Alex shared with me a small joint of some unknown indica strain that evening, this was exactly what I needed. We were a little bit drunk and were smoking near my hotel directly on the street near trash containers, and it seems I saw other guys doing the same on the opposite side of the street.

One joint is good - but I needed weed for the whole period of my stay in Ciudad del Este , so asked Alex if he could share contacts of his cannabis dealer. The answer was negative, simply because his dealer did not accept new people. But as we became close after the joint - Alex agreed to become my dealer for the nearest days, so all my issues with weed were resolved, thanks to Alex!

So where do smokers purchase weed in Ciudad del Este?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Ciudad del Este because of Alex, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. Website thehiddenwiki.com has all the links you may need to order stuff in the darknet using Tor browser and crypto, but this method usually works if you need a lot of stuff and have time (several days) to wait for the delivery.

If you are just having a short vacation or a trip to Ciudad del Este - purchasing weed via wholesale darknet websites is not an option. Looking for dealers on the streets and in parks is still something you may do to find some weed in Ciudad del Este, but more and more dealers are shifting to online orders done via messengers and payments in bitcoins instead of cash. This simply protects them from ever being caught by cops. Crypto payments are anonymous and delivery is done to selected location without any personal meetings, so both you and the dealer are secured from any possible consequences.

This was a surprise for me cause I am more old school and just “heard something about crypto”. While now all youngsters (who are usually a target group for cannabis dealers) have crypto wallets so dealers simply follow the trend. I think dealers are losing money anyway because not all clients know crypto, but Alex commented that nowadays if you do not use crypto - you 100% have a friend who uses it, so you may just send him money from card and he does crypto transaction for you. After that I remembered I also have such a friend, so I agreed with Alex.

Weed turnaround rules in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Paraguay. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Ciudad del Este, I met Alex. He relocated to Ciudad del Este two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Alex was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Ciudad del Este - police are not so straight at this.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Ciudad del Este?

According to Alex - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Ciudad del Este, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.
