Cannabis in Denpasar, Indonesia - my story

Hi there, hustlers 🤝Welcome to my longread about weed in Denpasar, done from my own experience plus some local stories.

As you all know cannabis regulations differ in different countries, so the point of this article is to cover marijuana laws in Denpasar, attitude of police and local inhabitants, weed VS hash availability and price range, my own experience related to weed in Denpasar.

Just finished my vacation, stayed 2 weeks in Denpasar, and as a heavy weed smoker I can't imagine a vacation without some sativa joint during the day and indica buds with some beer before heading to sleep. Below you will find info on what I found out while searching for tasty non-medical weed in Denpasar.

Weed turnaround rules in Denpasar, Indonesia

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Indonesia. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Denpasar, I met Olaf. He relocated to Denpasar two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Olaf was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Denpasar - police are not so straight at this.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Denpasar?

According to Olaf - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Denpasar, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.

Points to find the weed in Denpasar

During the time Olaf had been my dealer (it was the solving of all my issues) he was telling me about how the things were going in Denpasar.

High rated providers in Denpasar buy the cannabis on darknet websites that maintain gross orders. These orders can contain a big amount of weed and hash, kilograms I think. Some websites work on small orders too, so if you are close to Tor browser working and know how to .onion sites doing - glance on thehiddenwiki.com, wait for a couple of days and get your package. This site has all the information needed about darknet.

But if you have a short trip to Denpasar or vacation + need not too much weed and right now - only small local dealers may help you. Walking dark streets in a search for a strange-looking person who will sell you something that looks like weed for cash is still an option, but this is not the best way to spend time in Denpasar and does not guarantee you any success. Today almost all dealers went online already, so they arrange the delivery of stuff after taking crypto instead of cash. They try to avoid meetings in person so you just select the approximate drop off point, and get a photo where exactly to take your stuff after the delivery. Stuff is usually masked and looks not suspicious (may be a pack of juice or cigarettes you just take and continue walking).

I was surprised, really. Looks like I am too oldschool already - thought cash rules the world. While nowadays you may anonymously exchange crypto to cash - so for all illegal payments this became option #1. So now the dealing process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask google or local barman), contact him and choose what you want to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to some pre-selected place (that may be your hotel). Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

What do Denpasar locals think about weed and cannabis

Despite non-medical cannabis being officially forbidden in Denpasar - locals are absolutely absolutely relaxed about this type of light drugs. Young people and tourists are large target audiences for weed dealers in Denpasar, and all locals know that. This does not mean you may smoke joints in any bars, but no one should be surprised if they find you smoking weed somewhere in the dark corner of the street.

According to Olaf - even local cops in Denpasar are occasional weed smokers, so we may state that the atmosphere is relaxed in everything related to cannabis, while you should anyway watch your back to avoid any stressful situations with police.

We were a little drunk already when Olaf offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Olaf shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Olaf to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. So I simply asked Olaf if he could be my dealer during the nearest days - he agreed. I wish everyone to find his own Olaf in Denpasar🙂

Interesting facts about weed

1 - You Can Eat Cannabis Raw
Granted, it tastes a lot better when prepared with yummy edibles like brownies, bread, or cake. But cannabis can be consumed raw. One more thing is that if you eat it raw, it won’t get you high, but it will provide you with all the medicinal benefits.

2 - Modern-Day Cannabis Is A Lot Stronger
We talked about this on the cannabis flower and its influence in the 60s. For one, it’s purer than the illegal “hippie weed” that was imported into the United States. And it’s also been cultivated to increase its THC content, so the high you get from marijuana today is a lot stronger than what your parents or grandparents consumed.

3 - Cannabis Has Tons Of Nicknames
Due to its illegal status, cannabis is one of the drugs with the most nicknames out there. Weed, ganja, pot, grass, dope, reefer, hash, and even sandwiches if you’re a How I Met Your Mother fan are just a few of the slang terms that have become a part of the beloved cannabis culture.

4 - Cannabis Has Over 100 Active Cannabinoids
In fact, over 120. The most famous ones are (you guessed it!) THC and CBD.

5 - Uruguay Was The Future
In 2013, Uruguay became the first country in the world to legalize growing, selling, and consuming cannabis.
