Marijuana in Helsinki, Finland - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Helsinki , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Helsinki.

I've just come back from an interesting journey to Helsinki. It was a double week vacation and now when I'm at home, full of impressions I'm writing this post to share them with you, guys. As a strong smoker of the weed and hash I couldn't even imagine my trip with a 'clear mind'. Further I'll give you the information that I got when I was looking for the good drugs staff in Helsinki.

Attitude of Helsinki locals to weed

You already know that good non-medical marijuana with high % THC is not something you can officially buy in a branded cannabis shop in Helsinki, but this does not mean locals are too much against weed 😃. Youngsters and students are definitely those who share their love of cannabis and welcome new smokers in their circles. They can not imagine a good party without having a joint or two, while it’s hard to join them if you are already a “25+ old man”.

In general smoking some occasional joint after a long working week is a pleasant tradition among many people in Helsinki, so no one will point fingers at you seeing how you are smoking weed, but better to avoid doing this publicly just not to bring useless attention.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Helsinki after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Steve shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Helsinki.

I’ve asked Steve if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Steve in some bar of Helsinki.

Marijuana regulations in Helsinki, Finland

You should know that storage and distribution of non-medical cannabis is forbidden and strictly regulated by laws of Finland. This means you can not go and buy some good weed in an official shop like you may do in Canada for example. Low THC and high CBD cannabis may be ordered if you have a prescription from a doctor.

On my first evening in Helsinki I met Steve who moved here a couple of years ago. I got lucky - he was one of the heavy weed smokers, so he agreed to share a joint with me and tell me some stories about local dealers. As he said from the very beginning - even though weed is prohibited in Helsinki - cops are overall calm and relaxed in everything related to cannabis, this made me feel better.

What are the consequences of being caught with marijuana in Helsinki ?

In reality, as Steve pointed out, if you're over 18 and possess fewer than 20 grams of cannabis or 10 grams of hashish and refrain from public consumption, you shouldn't anticipate any legal trouble. At most, law enforcement may seize your belongings once they confirm you're not involved in distribution.

Typically, law enforcement officers do not interfere with foreign tourists who are enjoying their vacation or conducting business trips in Helsinki and contributing to the economy of Finland.

So where do smokers purchase weed in Helsinki?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Helsinki because of Steve, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. Website thehiddenwiki.com has all the links you may need to order stuff in the darknet using Tor browser and crypto, but this method usually works if you need a lot of stuff and have time (several days) to wait for the delivery.

If you're on a short vacation or a trip to Helsinki, obtaining cannabis through wholesale darknet websites isn't a viable option. Searching for street or park dealers remains a possibility for acquiring weed in Helsinki, but an increasing number of dealers are transitioning to online transactions through messaging apps and Bitcoin payments instead of cash. This approach serves as a protective measure against potential encounters with law enforcement. Crypto payments offer anonymity, and deliveries are made to specified locations without the need for in-person meetings, ensuring both you and the dealer are shielded from potential consequences.

This revelation surprised me, as I lean toward a more traditional approach and had only heard about cryptocurrencies in passing. However, these days, most young individuals, who are often the target audience for cannabis dealers, possess crypto wallets, so dealers are simply adapting to this trend. While I believe that some dealers might lose business because not all clients are familiar with cryptocurrencies, Steve pointed out that nowadays, if you don't use crypto yourself, you likely have a friend who does. In such cases, you can simply transfer money from your card to your crypto-savvy friend, and they can conduct the cryptocurrency transaction on your behalf. This advice from Steve got me thinking, and I realized I also have such a friend, so I followed his suggestion.
