Marijuana in Kaunas, Lithuania - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Kaunas , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Kaunas.

I have just finished my trip to Kaunas, stayed there for 10 days, now got back home, writing this post while memory is fresh and with a solid joint in my left hand. As a regular weed smoker I could not imagine my stay in Kaunas without having some weed in my pocket. Below I will outline information I found out while looking for some good smelly green buds in Kaunas.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Kaunas

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Kaunas - local inhabitants of Kaunas are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Brian told - even local cops in Kaunas sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Kaunas is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Kaunas after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Brian shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Kaunas.

I’ve asked Brian if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Brian in some bar of Kaunas.

Where to search for weed in Kaunas

While Brian became my temporary cannabis dealer (and this was the answer for me to all my questions) - he told me how things work in Kaunas.

Top tier dealers in Kaunas purchase cannabis on darknet websites that handle wholesale orders that may contain kilograms of weed and hash. Some darknet dealers process small orders as well, so if you are ready to understand Tor browser and how .onion sites work + ready to wait several days for delivery - take a look on thehiddenwiki.com - it has all links and info you will need about darknet.

While if you are having a short vacation or a trip to Kaunas and need not much weed right now or tomorrow - only local weed dealers may assist you. You may still use oldschool approach and hustle dark streets or parks in search of strange person who will sell you some joint for cash, but not sure this is the best way to spend your time in Kaunas. Nowadays almost all dealers have gone online and crypto already, so hustling the streets may simply not work. Now the weed-selling process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask some barmans or simply google), contact him and choose what you would like to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to a hotel or some pre-selected location. Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

I was a little bit shocked, because I got used to the idea that “cash rules the world”. But after crypto became something you may exchange to real cash, and do not need to meet in person to transfer it - cash started losing its points in the drug business. Brian also commented that now if you do not know crypto - you have a friend who is keen on bitcoins and all that shit, so you may simply ask him to help and do a crypto transaction for you. And I really have such friends, so yep, agree.

Cannabis laws in Kaunas, Lithuania

You can probably guess that distribution of non-medical cannabis is strictly forbidden and regulated by laws of Lithuania, so you can not purchase high THC weed in some official shops like you may do in the Netherlands for example.

On my very first day in Kaunas I got acquainted with Brian who has lived here for 3 years already and who is also a regular cannabis smoker. He shared a joint with me and told some stories. As he told that despite non-medical weed being prohibited - cops are relaxed and calm in everything related to cannabis, with some rare exceptions.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Kaunas?

According to Brian - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Kaunas, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.
