Buds and weed in Kon Tum, Vietnam - my impression

Hello dear rasta audience🤝Want to tell my story about adventures with weed in Kon Tum, with some stories of local inhabitant.

You are probably aware that marijuana laws are different in different places. This article should shed light on cannabis regulations in Kon Tum, what do local people and cops think about weed, hash availability, pricing, my own experience etc.

Just finished my vacation, stayed 2 weeks in Kon Tum, and as a heavy weed smoker I can't imagine a vacation without some sativa joint during the day and indica buds with some beer before heading to sleep. Below you will find info on what I found out while searching for tasty non-medical weed in Kon Tum.

Marijuana regulations in Kon Tum, Vietnam

You should know that storage and distribution of non-medical cannabis is forbidden and strictly regulated by laws of Vietnam. This means you can not go and buy some good weed in an official shop like you may do in Canada for example. Low THC and high CBD cannabis may be ordered if you have a prescription from a doctor.

On my first evening in Kon Tum I met Sam who moved here a couple of years ago. I got lucky - he was one of the heavy weed smokers, so he agreed to share a joint with me and tell me some stories about local dealers. As he said from the very beginning - even though weed is prohibited in Kon Tum - cops are overall calm and relaxed in everything related to cannabis, this made me feel better.

What if I get caught with weed in Kon Tum?

In practice, as Sam said - if you are 18+ and carry less than 20 grams of weed or 10 grams of hash and do not smoke in public - you should not expect any arrest. As a maximum, cops will confiscate your stuff after they ensure you are not a dealer who delivers stuff.

There are some stories about occasional cops forcing people to give them a bribe after catching someone with weed, but such cases are rare. Usually cops do not touch foreign tourists who are spending their vacation or business trip in Kon Tum and bring money to Vietnam.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Kon Tum

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Kon Tum - local inhabitants of Kon Tum are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Sam told - even local cops in Kon Tum sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Kon Tum is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

We were a little drunk already when Sam offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Sam shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Sam to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. So I simply asked Sam if he could be my dealer during the nearest days - he agreed. I wish everyone to find his own Sam in Kon Tum🙂

Where to search for weed in Kon Tum

While Sam became my temporary cannabis dealer (and this was the answer for me to all my questions) - he told me how things work in Kon Tum.

Top tier dealers in Kon Tum purchase cannabis on darknet websites that handle wholesale orders that may contain kilograms of weed and hash. Some darknet dealers process small orders as well, so if you are ready to understand Tor browser and how .onion sites work + ready to wait several days for delivery - take a look on thehiddenwiki.com - it has all links and info you will need about darknet.

While if you are having a short vacation or a trip to Kon Tum and need not much weed right now or tomorrow - only local weed dealers may assist you. You may still use oldschool approach and hustle dark streets or parks in search of strange person who will sell you some joint for cash, but not sure this is the best way to spend your time in Kon Tum. Nowadays almost all dealers have gone online and crypto already, so hustling the streets may simply not work. Now the weed-selling process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask some barmans or simply google), contact him and choose what you would like to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to a hotel or some pre-selected location. Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

I was a little bit shocked, because I got used to the idea that “cash rules the world”. But after crypto became something you may exchange to real cash, and do not need to meet in person to transfer it - cash started losing its points in the drug business. Sam also commented that now if you do not know crypto - you have a friend who is keen on bitcoins and all that shit, so you may simply ask him to help and do a crypto transaction for you. And I really have such friends, so yep, agree.
