Cannabis in Lima, Peru - my story

Hi there, hustlers 🤝Welcome to my longread about weed in Lima, done from my own experience plus some local stories.

As you all know cannabis regulations differ in different countries, so the point of this article is to cover marijuana laws in Lima, attitude of police and local inhabitants, weed VS hash availability and price range, my own experience related to weed in Lima.

My trip to Lima is over, these 10 days were perfect, so while memory is fresh I decided to write this post, who knows may be useful to someone. Being a regular cannabis smoker I could not imagine my stay in Lima without some daily joints. So from the very first day of my stay I started looking for weed…

Weed turnaround rules in Lima, Peru

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Peru. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Lima, I met Jason. He relocated to Lima two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Jason was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Lima - police are not so straight at this.

How not to be arrested with marijuana in Lima?

As Jason told me - for not to be arrested you can carry less than 10g of cannabis or 5g of hash. For the same purpose you should be sane and not use drugs in public places. Cops can just check if you are going to sell marijuana or not and confiscate it.

There are some possibilities that cops could try to get money from you if they catch you with weed in Lima. It is not a frequent story, but you should keep in mind that some cops prefer to force you to pay some money for your calmness. But not to propose money first because it can be regarded as a separate crime. So the easiest way is not to be caught with weed in Lima 😉.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Lima

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Lima - local inhabitants of Lima are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Jason told - even local cops in Lima sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Lima is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Lima after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Jason shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Lima.

I’ve asked Jason if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Jason in some bar of Lima.

Where to search for weed in Lima

While Jason became my temporary cannabis dealer (and this was the answer for me to all my questions) - he told me how things work in Lima.

Top tier dealers in Lima purchase cannabis on darknet websites that handle wholesale orders that may contain kilograms of weed and hash. Some darknet dealers process small orders as well, so if you are ready to understand Tor browser and how .onion sites work + ready to wait several days for delivery - take a look on thehiddenwiki.com - it has all links and info you will need about darknet.

If you are the person who doesn't want to wait or you vacation in Lima is too short for waiting, only the local dealer can save your time and help with weed. Of course, you can just use the familiar way many people find it to wander around the city looking for a stranger who can offer you a small variety of joints for cash. But I think it's not the best manner to waste your time in Lima. In our time almost all sellers work online and use cryptocurrency, so walking around the streets may not bring you any results. Now the way of buying cannabis has become more convenient - you get some contact of a dealer, write to him via messenger, choose what you want to buy, pay via crypto and get the delivery to a hotel or previously discussed place. If you don't know any contact of a dealer just ask some barmans or just use google. One more point you should notice that dealers try not to have a personal meeting with the buyer, so the package of weed is just placed in the previously discussed place and you get the photo and GPS tag of the exact place of your purchase.

I was really surprised because I was totally sure that “cash rules the roost”. But now when you can easily convert cryptocurrency to real cash and this point excludes personal meetings thereby, cash started to lose their positions in the drug business. Jason also advised me if you are not familiar with the crypto world, just ask your friends. He was totally sure that everyone nowadays has at least one friend who is close to the crypto and likes smoking as well. So you can just ask him to make the transaction for you. It is absolutely safe for both sides.
