Weed in Prague, Czech Republic: my experience

Hi, smokers! You probably know that cannabis laws and regulations vary from one county to another, so let’s go deeper and try to understand what is going on with weed in Prague. My post covers information about weed laws, regulations, general attitude of locals and cops, hash VS weed availability and pricing, failures and success in finding weed in Prague.

I have just finished my trip to Prague, stayed there for 10 days, now got back home, writing this post while memory is fresh and with a solid joint in my left hand. As a regular weed smoker I could not imagine my stay in Prague without having some weed in my pocket. Below I will outline information I found out while looking for some good smelly green buds in Prague.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Prague

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Prague - local inhabitants of Prague are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Simon told - even local cops in Prague sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Prague is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

Generally, the local stance on cannabis is quite laid-back, so you might start feeling at ease in Prague after enjoying a single quality joint, and I can attest to this from my own experience. Simon graciously shared a wonderfully satisfying sativa joint with me, even though he wasn't sure about the specific strain. We were indulging outside a bar and noticed other individuals across the street doing the same 😁. It's safe to say that cannabis consumption is quite prevalent in Prague.

I inquired with Simon about the possibility of obtaining his dealer's contact information because the quality of the product was exceptional. He explained that his specific dealer doesn't take on new clients, so he graciously offered to be my supplier during my vacation, which turned out to be an ideal arrangement. I hope everyone has the chance to encounter their own Simon in one of Prague's bars.

Cannabis laws in Prague, Czech Republic

It is important to note that cannabis, weed, and hash are prohibited in Prague. You can not officially purchase marijuana strains with high THC concentration in some coffee shops like in Amsterdam. Medical CBD cannabis may be available for purchase at dispensaries, but a prescription from a doctor is required, and you will never get high with CBD.

In one sports bar I got acquainted with Simon who moved to Prague 3 years ago, so he knows the local drug scene. According to Simon - despite cannabis being banned according to laws, cops are generally relaxed about weed, sometimes being smokers themselves.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Prague?

According to Simon - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Prague, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.

Where to search for weed in Prague

While Simon became my temporary cannabis dealer (and this was the answer for me to all my questions) - he told me how things work in Prague.

Top tier dealers in Prague purchase cannabis on darknet websites that handle wholesale orders that may contain kilograms of weed and hash. Some darknet dealers process small orders as well, so if you are ready to understand Tor browser and how .onion sites work + ready to wait several days for delivery - take a look on thehiddenwiki.com - it has all links and info you will need about darknet.

If you're on a short vacation or a trip to Prague, obtaining cannabis through wholesale darknet websites isn't a viable option. Searching for street or park dealers remains a possibility for acquiring weed in Prague, but an increasing number of dealers are transitioning to online transactions through messaging apps and Bitcoin payments instead of cash. This approach serves as a protective measure against potential encounters with law enforcement. Crypto payments offer anonymity, and deliveries are made to specified locations without the need for in-person meetings, ensuring both you and the dealer are shielded from potential consequences.

This revelation surprised me, as I lean toward a more traditional approach and had only heard about cryptocurrencies in passing. However, these days, most young individuals, who are often the target audience for cannabis dealers, possess crypto wallets, so dealers are simply adapting to this trend. While I believe that some dealers might lose business because not all clients are familiar with cryptocurrencies, Simon pointed out that nowadays, if you don't use crypto yourself, you likely have a friend who does. In such cases, you can simply transfer money from your card to your crypto-savvy friend, and they can conduct the cryptocurrency transaction on your behalf. This advice from Simon got me thinking, and I realized I also have such a friend, so I followed his suggestion.

What if I get caught by police with weed in Prague?

Police should check if you are a real dealer who delivers stuff or a tourist. Usually city visitors with small weights are not touched. While anyway it’s better to avoid any interactions with police officers, this is not the best way to spend time.

Is cannabis legal in Prague?

No, weed with high THC is strictly regulated in Prague, while police officers and locals are relaxed about cannabis and having less than 10 grams with you should result in arrest.

May I buy weed on the streets of Prague?

Yes you still may, while this is oldschool way already and a lot of dealers are shifting to online orders, but searching parks and streets may still give you some results.

Is it possible to find high-quality weed or hash in Prague?

Yes, although the quality may vary depending on the dealer.

What are the prices for weed and hash in Prague?

Prices can vary from dealer to dealer and are often influenced by the quality of the product and the dealer's pricing strategy 😂. Based on what I observed, super high-quality weed can cost between $20 to $25 per gram (with discounts for larger quantities), and high-quality hash typically ranges from $30 to $35 per gram. I haven't purchased low-quality weed in Prague, so I'm not sure about the prices for that, but they should generally be lower.
